We celebrated mothers and fathers during these special days to recognize their important influence in our homes and society. God commands us to honor and respect our parents. This is the fifth commandment, given in Exodus 20:12 and Deuteronomy 5:16 and reiterated by the apostle Paul in Ephesians 6:1-3: “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honor your father and mother (this is the first commandment with a promise), that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.”
